Brazil is the largest country in South America and the fifth-largest country in the world. It has 7500km of Atlantic Ocean coastline and boasts some of the largest remaining tracts of forests and wetlands in the world – the Amazon River Basin with its vast tropical forest, is home to high levels of biodiversity and extensive natural resources.
The Pantanal, the world’s largest tropical wetland is located mostly within the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, but also extends into parts of Bolivia and Paraguay. The country is one of the world’s 17 megadiverse countries – it boasts 20 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Iguazu Falls, the largest waterfall system in the world. Apart from 1825 bird species, Brazil also offers exciting and sought-after mammal species such as – capybara, ocelots, tapirs, anteaters, sloths and jaguars.
